The transmission of sound through this system (earpiece, tubing, and stethoscope head) isdependent on a complete seal in thesystem. At the patient’s end this is not difficult to accomplish. At the anesthetist’s end this is more difficult, due to the irregular and variable shape of the ear canal. The SoftEar™ earpiece answers this need perfectly. The
foam is compressed, inserted into the ear canal and slowly expands to make a perfect, low pressure seal with the canal wall. This seal is critical due to the low volume of the sounds transmitted. The low pressure against the skin in the ear canal makes the earpiece more comfortable which encourages more vigilant use. Monitoring means vigilance.Tubing is four foot in length. |
